The VisiLok Solution

The VisiLok road wheel safety nut is designed to provide a comprehensive solution to the problem of nut relaxation.

The design concept starts from the premise that it is difficult, if not impossible, to eliminate loss of clamping force and the slackening of wheel nuts on commercial vehicles. In the event of an occurrence, however, the VisiLok nut both arrests the rotation movement and visibly flags the problem.

The device consists of a nut incorporating a spring driven lock and flag mechanism, together with a modified, slotted stud. In the event of relaxation and movement, the mechanism drops three securing pins into slots in the stud while simultaneously raising three bright yellow flags above the surface of the nut.

Clamp load and other specification characteristics of the VisiLok nut are exactly as the Original Equipment Manufacturer's specification. The VisiLok device is effectively incorporated into the OEM's existing nut and stud design so that no unique OEM design characteristics are lost.

While achieving the dual function of arresting the movement and flagging the problem, VisiLok behaves in all other respects as a standard road wheel nut. No special tools are required and there is no time penalty in fitting or removing a VisiLok nut.
